"Integrity" - The Key for SMEs to Survive and Thrive
The governance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has become more and more important especially when they are facing economic hardships. With the growing business opportunities in the Pearl River Delta, SMEs are likely to face increasing ethical challenges when doing cross-boundary businesses. To equip SMEs to survive and thrive with integrity in the economic downturn and grasp the opportunities of economic growth in the Pearl River Delta, two seminars, the Business Ethics Conference cum Pledging Ceremony for SMEs and the Tripartite Seminar on Corruption Prevention in Private Sector were organized in 2009.
This issue summarises the background, objectives and proceedings of the two seminars. Both events included a number of enlightening presentations, ceremonial functions and panel discussions. You may also find inspiring sharing and interactions among prominent government officials, business leaders and academics on the ethical challenges faced by SMEs and the ways to thrive for success.
